Kildress’ struggles continued on Friday night with their fourth defeat of the campaign, this time in the spectacular Lough Shore setting of Brocagh. It was another narrow reverse for The Tones, 0-12 to 0-13, but there were no real arguments about the result as the stronger and more driven team won in front of a good and well-entertained crowd. Kildress had a good first half and led 0-8 to 0-6 at the break, Matty McGuigan top-scoring with three points and ending the match with 0-5. Brocagh levelled early in the second half which then quickly became one of Kildress being foul-happy in defence and lacking power in attack whilst Brocagh developed as the game went on. Six of The Emmets’ seven second-half points came from simple frees whilst Kildress struggled to make their own impact at the far end of the field. Once again Dean McNally was strong in defence for The Tones and Michael Crawley, the McAleer brothers, Pauric Lagan and the Quinns kept trying manfully, but it’s just not currently happening for this team.
Meanwhile the Reserves maintained their 100% record and now sit as clear leaders of their League following their 2-9 to 0-11 win in the opening game of the night. Here Kildress had fine showings form Michael John Connolly, Eoghan McElduff, Callum Holland, Shea Loughran and Stephen Loughran.
