The Under 14 Grade II Championship Final clash of two fine Muintir Luinigh teams in the heart of Muintir Luinigh earlier today went the way of an exceptional Loughmacrory team, as they won out by 2-10 to 1-8 over Kildress after a thoroughly entertaining hour’s football at Greencastle. The game, well refereed by Fabian McGlone, produced a lot of good football and away more than its share of goalmouth incidents, with plenty of great last gasp blocking and the Tones hitting both post and bar at crucial times.

Playing with wind advantage, and with a lot revolving round the mesmeric Ruaraidh McCullagh, The Lough got off to a flying start and were nine points ahead by the time of the first water-break. After that Kildress started to get a hold in the game and in the second half were able to apply some significant pressure, including a fine goal from Tiarnan McNally. They did manage to edge closer and closer but the St Teresa’s were always able to keep that vital distance ahead, and held on, despite intense late Kildress pressure, to achieve a well-merited 2020 Under 14 League and Championship double.

This has been a very good season delivered for us all by our Under 14 panel and their management team of Don McKernan, Frankie Corey and Aidan Corey.

With continued work and focus, plenty can lie ahead of this group of players, who today stepped up for us as follows: Kiernan Devlin | Conleth Devlin, Aaron Corey, Rory McNamee | Daniel Heagney, Barry McAleer, Emmet Heagney | Donal Keenan, Tiarnan McNally | James Mulgrew, John Paul Tracey, Shay Duffin | Michael Heagney, Gavin Connolly, Eoghan McGurk | Eoin McNally, PJ Cassidy, Oísín Hughes, Niall Corey, Eunan Beggs, Tommy Mullan, Shea Mullan, Dylan McCrory, Cillian Carlisle, Charlie Shields, Eoin Cassidy, Daniel McCrory, Liam Loughran, Ryan Loughran, TJ Loughran, Liam Toner
