Hard to believe or not, but before today it was over a year since Kildress had last won a home adult men’s fixture. However, they finally put that behind them with this 3-15 to 1-2 win over a very game Dregish, in a free-flowing match well refereed in windy conditions by Simon Brady. Enda McAleer’s clever goal on the stoke of half-time gave The Tones a 1-5 to 0-1 interval lead but in truth Dregish could have been in front as they had created but then missed several good chances, including two glorious openings for goals. Kildress on the other hand became very ruthless in their wind-assisted second half and an early 1-3 without reply from Philip Lennon put the game to bed. Dregish struck for a fine goal late on but by then Kildress were just too far ahead. The Tones maintained their good form from last week and had good showings from Dean McNally, Tiernan McNamee, Callum Holland, Marty Loughran, Enda McAleer (1-0), Pauric Lagan (0-1), Des Treacy (0-1), Eoin Brannigan (0-4) and Colm Loughran (1-2). By the finish Kildress had on the pitch one of their youngest teams for some time as the painstaking job of re-building continues.
The Reserves meanwhile had no game and so hold on to their 100% record.
