A big, landmark week for our Club – our Boys Feile team won the Tyrone Grade III title and will head to the National Feile in Sligo at the end of June and the ‘Big 300’ target in the Club Kildress Draw was passed – ended with a fine if unexpected 0-14 to 1-9 League victory at The Rock. Played in front of a bumper crowd – the St Patrick’s had classily and generously used the game as a poignant health-care fund-raiser in memory of the late and much-missed Sean Kolbohm – this was a good, tough tussle and provided a very welcome victory for The Tones. Kildress trailed by 0-6 to 0-5 at half-time but raised their game for the second half and, for the first time this season, came out on the right side of another close, exciting and entertaining game. Matty McGuigan top-scored with a powerful seven points but in a good all-round team display Kildress also got great performances from Jack Loughran, Pauric Lagan, Des Treacy, Tiernan McNamee and Conor McAleer. It might be only our second win of the campaign, but our young team is maybe starting to find its feet.
Kildress Reserves meanwhile maintained their 100% record with a 1-14 to 0-13 over the St Patrick’s and now sit two points clear at the top of the Table. Maith sibh uilig!
