Kildress Minor Boys’ remarkable season came to an end tonight, as darkness fell during extra time in their gripping Grade 1 Championship match with Omagh.

Trailing by three points at half-time the Tones rallied fiercely and a storming final quarter in an end-to-end second half saw them take the lead with a fantastic Shea Quinn goal. Both teams had their chances but it was Omagh who conjured up a late equalizer to take the game to extra time. The efforts during normal time took their toll on Kildress however and with many of the lads cramping up during the extra 20 minutes, the St Enda’s notched up the points to run out eventual winners by 0-20 to 3-5.

Despite the disappointment of tonight, the Club are very proud of the efforts from the Minor team this year. Since coming out of lock-down they have played seven matches in less than six weeks, claiming several notable victories in the process. With many of the lads also playing either U16 or Seniors/Reserves, they have had a heavy, but very enjoyable schedule of football over this time.

The Club would like to thank all those parents who provided transport to away matches in Ballinderry, Killyclogher, Strabane and Trillick. That level of willing input is what makes things happen.

’Le chéile ar son Chill Dreasa/Together for Kildress.’
