Twelve scores to 11 says it all about this thrilling game as Kildress came out on the right side of a 4-8 to 2-9 win over Moortown at a chilly Gortacladdy this evening in the LCC GROUP Intermediate Reserve Championship.

On another day Moortown would have won this one, as Kildress goal-keeper Nathan McKernan was both goal-stopper and show-stopper, making half-a-dozen point blank saves over both halves and totally frustrating an otherwise very inventive Moortown attack.

Caolan Mullin’s wonder-strike goal helped Kildress to a 1-6 to 1-4 interval lead, but the St Malachys then fought back brilliantly, only for very well-worked goals from Ben Donnelly, Damian Kelly and MJ Connolly to keep Kildress in a good position. This was literally an end-to-end, very fast-paced game, outstandingly well refereed by Dermot Monaghan.

Kildress now move on to meet neighbours Greencastle in the Semi-Final.
