Kildress Ladies had a fine 3-17 to 4-3 Junior Championship win over Beragh in wet, cold conditions earlier tonight at the Éire Óg pitch in Carrickmore.

This was Kildress’ first-ever game in that fine setting, and settling well as a team from the start, they pulled steadily away as the game progressed. The second and third quarters were definitely the ‘moving quarters’ for The Tones as they won them by 2-9 to 1-1, putting themselves firmly in charge on the score-board.

This was no easy win however, as a strong and good-playing Red Knights team never conceded and constantly brought the game to Kildress. Whilst the Tones victory owed a lot to their impressive defence, their midfield and attack really impressed in the difficult conditions, with Chloe Tracey and Eilis Keenan providing real cutting edges up front.

Overall, what’s really heartening for our Club are the sheer numbers of players committing to this panel. Definitely ‘Ag Seasamh Gualainn ar Ghualainn | Standing Shoulder to Shoulder’!

Kildress now move on to meet The Rock, at Gortacladdy, next Sunday 3 October, at 5.00pm.

Kevin Donnelly was an excellent referee.
