This was a game that had just about everything – except a win for Kildress – as The Tones Ladies fell to a late, late 4-10 to 4-8 defeat to Clonoe at Gortacladdy last night.

Played on a fine evening and ending up under lights, Kildress had an absolute flier of a start, racing into an early four goal lead. They were still comfortable at half-time and early in the second half had a few chances to really put the game to bed.
Clonoe had other ideas though and as Kildress’ early efforts started to tell on them, the O’Rahilly’s really took control in the last quarter and drove on to grab the two late goals that seized what had long looked a very unlikely victory. Kildress put in some great last ditch defending but Clonoe’s late momentum was very powerful and very impressive and The Tones’ loss of some players through injury towards the end was a big blow to them.
On an evening when Kildress gave Senior debuts to some of their youth players and where for the second game in a row Ann-Marie Lennon rattled in a hat-trick of goals, it wasn’t at all all doom-and-gloom for Kildress as they had already qualified for the League knock-out stages.
