Kildress had another ‘nearly-but-not-quite’ Division II League game on Friday night when they fell by 0-11 to 1-12 to a good Moortown team at Gortacladdy. The visitors scored the game’s opening three points but Kildress then rallied well to go ahead by 0-5 to 0-4 before Con Herron, who would notch 1-6, grabbed a goal that rocked the Tones back. It was level, 0-8 to 1-5, at half-time but it was the St Malachy’s who rose better to things in the second half, with Karl Hagan and Tony Quinn causing Kildress plenty of problems. Kildress kept trying but twice Moortown reeled off three-points-in-a-row to keep the Tones on the back foot. Kildress had good performers in Stephen McGurk, Philip Lennon (0-5), Johnny (0-2) and Adam Connolly (0-1), Matty McGuigan (0-1) and Des Treacy but on the night Moortown just had that little bit more.
