Kildress Seniors’ 17th and last game of the 2016 League season on Saturday night was a mirror image of most of the others – a good, well-organised display, great heart and a refusal to lie down, plenty of good football … but at the end of it all a narrow defeat. The Tones just trailed by a point, 0-5 to 0-6, to a full-strength St Enda’s at half-time and stuck doggedly to their task in the second half on a bitterly cold evening but eventually fell to a 0-11 to 0-14 defeat. Frank McGurk top-scored with four points and others to shine were the Connolly brothers, Caolan McNamee, Philip McKenna and Damian Kelly in what was a strong all-round team showing. Relegated they may be but our team has done us proud in the Senior grade all year. Thank you for that men! It’s now all about 2017. Beir bua!
