Kildress Reserves clinched the Division 2 Reserve League today away to Aghyaran making it back-to-back Div 2 Reserve titles for the club. This was a winner takes all contest as the men from Aghyaran where the Tones closest rivals and they needed a victory to clinch the title.
This was a very strong display all over the field but particularly defensively from the team as they limited the home side to 4 points from place balls throughout the hour +.
Eoghan Gallagher was very solid in goals and the defence was well lead by Stevie McGurk and Ruairi Loughran. They were complimented well with point scoring wing back Johnny Connolly in fine form. The season’s most common duo at midfield (MJ Connolly and Liam Gilligan) where back together to show their dominance around the middle sector.
Up front it was a case of more of the same as the forwards played well as a unit and the scoring threat came from the prolific Paul Connolly and Eoin Brannigan.
Another theme of the season was the positive contribution from the bench and today the pick of the cameos where Oggy Quinn and Odhran O’Driscoll who came on to great effect to round off a very positive week and satisfying league title.
The club would like to congratulate all the lads that played throughout the league and to the management and back-room team on securing this title. It is a great achievement to win a league title and to do it in succession is an even greater accomplishment!
