After two good but unrewarded performances in the League, things finally fell Kildress’ way when they won a thrilling game at Moortown today by 2-14 to 2-13. The outlook had been gloomy for the Tones when they fell behind by 1-7 to 0-2 after 15 minutes but two Philip Lennon frees followed by a fine goal from the outstanding Corey Holland changed the dynamic totally and led to a much healthier half-time position where they trailed by just a point, 1-9 to 1-8. The second half ratcheted up the excitement as both teams went for victory. Enda McAleer was spectacular at midfield for Kildress and with Stephen McGurk, Johnny Connolly, Des Treacy, Marty Grimes, Philip Lennon (who finished with seven points) and the Holland twins all prominent, Kildress looked a totally different proposition from the team that had struggled earlier in this campaign. Corey Holland’s second goal was the decisive score though Moortown pressed hard in the final ten minutes and reduced Kildress’ four-point lead to a single point when the final whistle was blown by referee Kevin Taggart who had contributed greatly to a fine hour’s football from both teams.

The Reserves meanwhile preserved their unbeaten record with their third draw in a row, 2-11 to 3-8 with Matty Mullin pitching in with 1-4 and Francis Og Quinn netting the Tones’ other goal.
