Kildress fell to their first heavy defeat of the season when they were well-beaten by Clonoe, 2-18 to 0-9 at Gortacladdy in perfect conditions today.

Trailing by just 0-4 to 0-6 after twenty minutes, from then on Kildress couldn’t cope with the power, pace and accuracy of The O’Rahillys. The outstanding Dan McNulty bagged 2-4 for the visitors but this was no one-man Clonoe show, with PJ Lavery, Conor McAlliskey, Deccy McClure and the evergreen Aidan Brady among those to shine.

Kildress had staunch displays from Gerard Grimes in goal plus Dean McNally, Peter Daly, Aaron Loughran and Damian Kelly and to their credit battled to the end. One-sided on the score-board or not, few people felt short-changed by this game such was the power of the Clonoe display. Referee Mark O’Neill contributed well to keeping a lot of attractive football flowing.
