Kildress put up another good showing in today’s Donnelly Vauxhall League clash with County Champions Trillick at Gortacladdy but fell in the end by 1-11 to 1-6. Eight first half wides were costly for Kildress whilst Matty Donnelly’s outstanding three points helped his team to an 0-7 to 0-2 half-time lead, Des Treacy scoring both the Tones’ points.
Kildress started much better in the second half and two Des Treacy frees plus a fine point from Johnny Connolly had the gap down to two by the end of the third quarter. A spectacular Matty Donnelly goal put Trillick back in charge and although Kildress never gave up and goaled themselves through Niall Quinn, Trillick’s quality shone through to see them to victory. Kildress had good performers in Dean McNally, Johnny Connolly, Stephen McGurk, Conor McAleer, Martin Grimes and Des Treacy. Matty Donnelly meanwhile showed the big crowd just why he is an All-Star.
Cathal Forbes was an excellent referee.
