Kildress put on maybe their best show of the season at Gortacladdy today before being edged out by three points, 2-6 to 0-5 by the still-undefeated Errigal Ciaran. Johnny Connolly’s spectacular goal plus two fine points from Damian Kelly helped Kildress to a 2-3 to 0-8 interval lead on a perfect day for football. Des Treacy nudged The Tones further ahead at the start of the second half but six Errigal points in a row, including a monster effort from Peter Harte, put the visitors in a strong position. Kildress continued to press hard but, as was the case throughout the game, were too often unable to make good approach play count. Two more Treacy points had the game right back in the balance, only for Errigal to hang on for a tight victory. Kildress had a number of good performers including Dean and Shane McNally, Aaron Loughran, Johnny Connolly, Enda McAleer, Francis Og and Conor Quinn and those non-stop stalwarts, Des Treacy and Damian Kelly.

Well done to our Under 8s who put on a half-time exhibition game today and thank you to all those coaches and parents who helped make it happen. Thank you too to Peter Harte and Aidan McRory for the jersey-signing … a classy touch from classy men!
